Thoseghar Waterfall – Satara

5 April 2009 One Comment

A 1000 feet waterfall, this is what is special in this small village. It pulls thousands visitors from all over Maharashtra during the rainy season every year. Around 18 km from the Satara city, this place is always the talk of town during rainy season. Situated at the beginning of Konkan (west coast) region, this is comparatively closer to Satara city.  Many youngsters can be seen in fully packed vehicles, and even on bikes coming to this place in heavy rain. Government has constructed a good platform to stand and take a good view of the waterfall, almost from front.  There are couple of other views, which are available for people. Some construction is going on there to secure those places. But I would recommend, take the safer places instead of going for adventures. There is already a list displayed of those people who have wasted their lives due to such adventures. I am sure, you want to visit this place to see this natural wonder than wasting your beautiful life.

Other important thing which the non-veg eaters can enjoy here is the home-made food in couple of small house cum hotels here. You place the order, and walk down the hill to see the waterfall. By the time you come back, the tasty curry is ready with Indian bread (Chapati or Bhakari as ordered). If you are already shivering with cold after getting wet in rain and heavy breeze, then this hot spicy food is heaven for you. We explored one more option here, we took the meat from Satara city only, and asked those hoteliers to make it ready for us. With some charges, they keep the curry ready and along with bread.  Enjoy the mighty stream of water falling down a thousand feet and the food also.

Wow! It’s a very nice post. The waterfall is amazingly beautiful.

I hope I can see that personally and take photos of it. It’s so tall. Unbelievable!
